Labelle Prussin’s book, African Nomadic Architecture, Space, People and Gender, has caused us to open an architectural reporting series that will introduce you to invigorating architectural concepts and designs that we believe need to be incorporated into American architectural thinking. Robert Farris Thompson, in his forward to the book, talks about “the possibility of building by analogy with the past.” When you ponder what that means, you can see that we are on the wrong road with our great white ways of neon jungles making every town across our land look like the other. Our intent with this special architectural series is to go through Prussin’s book start to finish, and pluck out what we see as the highlights.
